#TPT - Impossible stories from the other side
Robin Lassiter collides netherworld narratives like a good twadpockle
Today’s Twadpockle Talk (#TPT) link of consequence comes from a new face to us, Robin Lassiter, creator of the podcast “earth: a love story.”
Her solo episodes are purring enchantments in a voice of buttered silk rubbed with brown sugar, over a soothing, gritty cadence1 that exfoliates your soul.
Though I have never encountered space aliens or believed the world was about to end,2 I did fall in love for keeps at the age of nine,3 and I have always known in my core that I am a sacrificial being whose culture long ago sold my noblest impulse to parasites, some of whom I’ve narrowly avoided.4
That’s how I know that her impossible stories are real, even though I don’t believe in most of them—heck, fifteen months ago I didn’t believe in homeopathy—and I’m looking forward to sharing my favorites of her lyrical testimonies, gripping confessions, transcendental conversations, and yes: NARRATIVE COLLISIONS. (See, she’s one of us!)
Let’s ease into it5 with her most down-to-earth episode that I have heard so far:
Ep. 47 Influence, Conspiracy, and Agency, Part One
earth: a love story, Robin Lassiter
49:51 audio, 15 Apr 2024, link to episode on Spotify
Robin talks about the nature of reality in our memetic Overculture. How we do know what is real? What happens to us when we notice that we don’t?
Play it LOUD enough to hear the gritty organ chords caressing her voice, or you’re missing out—especially later on as her lyrical energy builds.

The plagal cadence is what a church organ plays to “A-men” at the end of a hymn. With the ethereal embellishments of Morgan Jenks, it is a perfect fit for Robin’s sacred syllables.
The Y2K computer date bug was real, but pressure to fix it began in 1970, when mortgage lenders had due dates in the year 2000. With each passing year/decade, more and more industries had time horizons that looked into the next century for normal operations and needed to store these dates in their systems ahead of time. The private economy had plenty of warning and easily fixed this bug through good old supply & demand.
Her Episode 49 Sex, Love and Other Drugs PART TWO spoke for me and made me sob for her.
Graduating from high school, I had a STRONG protective drive that almost led me to join the police or military. But I had just enough sense in 1987 to see that the contents did not match the label. And I’ll have you know, I was wearing my hair in a flat top before the movie Top Gun came out!
Trust me. Leave “Aliens Took My Eggs” (Ep. 57) for later. 😉
Interesting woman.
She uses a lot of hypnotist's tricks in this podcast (I've only listened to #47 so far). The background music, her cadence, the technique of "pacing", making the listener think past "the sale" when pitching a concept, etc.
(Fascinatingly, I just revealed a "Top Gun" bit of my personal history! https://youtu.be/50aRbNO4nbY?si=2XLQOn3KTRW1SI6y)
Can I call you Iceman from here on out?
